Serie A &B referee designator Gianluca Rocchi has made it clear that matches will be stopped next season where racist incidents occur. There’s been ongoing criticism of the league following a number of racist incidents involving the likes of Lazio, Juventus and Inter last season.
Speaking at a pre-season gathering in Cascia, Rocchi explained the new approach that the league plan to take in 2023-24:
“Zero tolerance on football pitches from the first minute. No one must be allowed to bring racism onto the pitch: we are fed up. At the first hint we will stop for one or two minutes without warning because they are outdated.
“Then it will be up to the public safety officer to decide whether to suspend the match if the racist gestures go on.
