Empoli are close to agreeing a deal for Lazio youngster Matteo Cancellieri just one season after he joined the Biancocelesti. The 21-year-old arrived in the capital last summer, spending the 2022-23 season on loan before he was signed outright.
Sky Sport Italia now report that Tuscan side Empoli are closing in on a deal for the youngster and are expected to take him on loan for the new campaign.
Negotiations for the Italy international are expected to close in the coming days with Cancellieri expected to find more playing time with Empoli after a disappointing first season with Lazio.
During the last 2022-23 campaign, Cancellieri made 30 appearances with Lazio, between Serie A, the Conference League and Europa League, but failed to provide either goals or assists.
