Fiorentina sporting director aimed another dig at Juventus, saying the club ‘respect the rules’ and are ‘rightly’ in the Conference League next season. La Viola have taken the place of Juve in next seasons competition after the Bianconeri were excluded from Europe for one season by UEFA. Speaking to the clubs official website, Barone discussed the importance of having the fans with them during pre-season, the thorny subject of the stadium redevelopment, and why the club deserve to be in Europe next season.
“In Grosseto we could see our fans behind the team. It takes patience, but we hope to open the Viola Park soon as well. We have two more friendly matches here, we hope to have the fitness to welcome our fans.
“The Stadium? It’s a sensitive issue. We are close to the municipality. We want to play at the Franchi and we want the work to start, though. We hope that the 2032 EUROS will also come to us (Italy). We are working with Palazzo Vecchio to understand the project. It is not yet decided if we will be able to play at the Franchi even during the works, we are waiting for an answer.”
“Conference League? We work on many aspects and we are convinced of what we are doing. In the market we want players who are conducive to our system of play, which is very aggressive. Europe? Great to be there for us. We have always followed the rules. We’re super happy, since we’ve been here we’ve always followed the rules and paid all the taxes on time. The credit goes to Commisso. And we are rightly in the Conference. And let’s not forget that we have the Super Cup. The Conference is becoming an interesting competition, UEFA is looking for a solution to find more and more capacious stadiums.”
