Lukaku tried to reopen talks with Inter

Start

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku reportedly tired to reopen reopen talks with Inter as Juventus are no longer pushing to sign him. The Belgian international spent the last season on loan with the Nerazzurri and was in talks to return there for the new campaign.

Reports from Italy and England suggested that Juventus had entered into talks to sign the 30-year-old, earning the ire of Inter ultras who issued a statement saying they no longer wanted him at the club.

La Gazzetta dello Sport now report that Lukaku is training alone as he is no longer considered part of Chelsea’s plans. Juve are no longer pushing to sign him as they would need to sell Dusan Vlahovic to PSG first, leaving Saudi Arabia as the only possible option for Lukaku,

The change in scenario reportedly pushed Lukaku to try and re-enter into talks with the Nerazzurri, but this was quickly rejected by the club, with president Steven Zhang reportedly deciding to withdraw from all links with the Belgian forward.

Inter are now pushing to sign Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun instead, or could make a move for Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, leaving Lukaku with few options ahead of the 2023-24 season.
