Sandro Tonali’s agent Giuseppe Riso has confirmed that the young midfielder is on the verge of joining Premier League club Newcastle United. The reported deal has moved quickly, with news breaking just days ago that the Magpies were keen on the Italy international to bolster their midfield options. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia, Riso confirmed that the transfer is progressing well and is very close to being completed:
“Mission accomplished? Not yet, there are still a few days to go. The boy is calm, he knows that when such important offers arrive, from such important clubs, it is difficult to refuse for both the club and the boy. We’ve reached a player-side agreement, they’re defining it between clubs: once that’s done, he’ll have his medicals in the next few days.”
“Tears? No no absolutely, the boy is thinking about the national team. It’s now a matter of bonuses and technical details, bureaucratic things. Six-year contract, I can confirm. I’m satisfied because it’s a great operation, Sandro will help Milan and also Brescia, whom he loves so much. It’s a perfect project for him, they want him at all costs and he will be the reference point.”
“Frattesi? We have already started the meetings, let’s see in these days which clubs can afford him, then I will reach Davide and he will decide. Is Inter the team he’s chosen? I can’t say beforehand. AC Milan? I think he’ll fit in, they seem very focused on him. Figures? With (Sassuolo drirector) Carnevali it’s not easy as far as figures are concerned, we’re working on it.”
