La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Premier League club Liverpool are very interested in signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa. There have been rumblings about the 25-year-old’s happiness in Turin, with some suggesting that he is feeling disconnected with the Bianconeri, in part because of coach Max Allegri.
La Gazzetta write that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp seems to be serious about bringing Chiesa to the Premier League, and is a ‘big sponsor’ of the operation to bring the player to England.
Klopp is eager to renew his team and aims to set up a squad that is up to the task of getting back into the Champions League right away. The ‘big maneuvers’ have already begun, if not with Juve, then definitely with the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, but the English club will have to watch out for competition from PSG and Bayern Munich, as well as Newcastle IUnited, although the latter does not seem to be the player’s favorite destination.
Liverpool would be willing to guarantee Chiesa the salary that Juventus is not willing to give him. Negotiations for his contract renewal with Juve stalled when his agent put forward a condition for the extension, asking that his salary go from the current €5 million to €8 million, more or less what Dusan Vlahovic receives. A figure Juve does not want and cannot afford; their priority at the moment is to streamline the wage bill.
Liverpool could come forward in a concrete way as early as next week, putting forward €40-45 million that they would like to spend on Chiesa, while Juve aim to cash in on the €60 million that they invested in total to buy him.
