Reports from the Italian media suggest former SPAL coach Daniele De Rossi is closing in on a role at Spezia. The 39-year-old took on his first coaching role with SPAL in 2022 before being dismissed earlier this year after a strong of poor results.
SportItalia journalist Alfredo Pedulla reports that De Rossi is now in the running for the Spezia bench, despite having been closely linked with Serie B side Pisa.
Pedulla writes that in the last few hours there was a meeting between the former SPAL coach and the Ligurian club. Their reported short-list includes a few coaches still under contract, so De Rossi’s name is advancing higher up the list.
The meeting reportedly went well, with De Rossi’s odds of taking the role on the rise, but he is waiting for the definite decision of the club, who are fresh from relegation to Serie B.
