Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira is set to return to Arsenal this summer, despite having a solid season on loan at Fiorentina. The 26-year-old joined La Viola last summer with an option to buy for €13 million with Fiorentina expected to exercise the option this summer.
Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that as things stand, the midfielder will return to Arsenal as no deal has been agreed between the two sides.
It’s suggested that the club tried to arrange a discount from the Gunners, but they weren’t open to the idea, while Torreira was also unwilling to lower his €4 million a season salary demand.
The player has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract but is unlikely to remain at the club where he’s not thought to be part of their long-term plans.
