Lazio receive offer for Luis Alberto, talks underway

Start

Lazio have received an offer from Qatari side Al-Duhail for midfielder Luis Alberto with negotiations well underway. The 30-year-old had a muddled season, starting slowly and struggling for playing time under coach Maurizio Sarri, before coming into his own to help the Biancocelesti secure second place in Serie A.

Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that Lazio have received an offer from Al-Duhail, the Qatari league champions, who would like to buy Luis Alberto. The two sides have met in Rome twice already, in April and early June, with the Arab team offering the player an €8 million per season contract.

The Qatari club have offered Lazio €12 million plus €3 million in bonuses, a figure lower than the €20 million requested by club president Claudio Lotito.

Al-Duhail is therefore ready to ask the player for a cut on his salary, so they can increase the offer to the club. Negotiations are well under way and the Spaniard’s agents are pushing for a transfer or alternatively a contract renewal with Lazio at a figure that the Biancocelesti cannot afford at the moment, however.
