La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Arsenal midfielder Jorginho could be set for a return to Italy, with Lazio particular keen on signing him. The Italy international made the switch to the Gunners in January for a reduced transfer fee of €13.5m, despite interest from Italian sides, but his future in North London is not certain.
Gazzetta write that Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri wants to bring the 31-year-old to the capital, but his salary may prove to be a stumbling block for any potential deal. The former Chelsea player earns close to €6.5 million per season, which may well be outside of the Biancocelesti’s price range.
The report outlines how Lazio may be prepared to go up to €4 million per season, given his track record of working with Sarri at both Napoli and Chelsea.
Lazio are expected to invest in their squad after qualifying for next seasons Champions League, with midfield and attack key areas where they require reinforcements.
