Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has set his sights on Vincenzo Italiano to replace Luciano Spalletti this summer. Spalletti has already confirmed that he is stepping down from his role after guiding the Partenopei to this seasons Scudetto. De Laurentiis has reportedly drawn up a shortlist that includes Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto Mancini, but is focusing on one particular candidate.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that the main target is still Italiano, who De Laurentiis is ‘insisting on’. There has already been contact between De Laurentiis and Joe Barone, Fiorentina’s general manager, to talk about the former Spezia and Trapani coach, but any talk has been postponed until after the Conference League final.
Italiano is very much liked by the Neapolitan leadership and is viewed as the ideal successor to Spalletti, despite Napoli making another attempt to try and get Nagelsmann, who is now in advanced negotiations with PSG.
