Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Italiano is the latest name being linked with the soon-to-be vacant managers role at Napoli. With Luciano Spalletti’s departure all but confirmed, the Partenopei have been linked with a host of names in rcecent weeks, as the club step-up their efforts to find a worthy successor.
Despite having been linked with Luis Enrique, Il Mattino now suggest that Italiano could be the leading candidate to take over the Scudetto winners. The newspaper claims club president Aurelio De Laurentiis ideally wants a new manager in place before the club depart for their pre-season tour of the United States on 12 June.
Fiorentina are set to play in the Conference League final on June 7, meaning De Laurentiis will have a far better idea of Italiano’s availability. La Viola president Rocco Commisso has maintained a close friendship with De Laurentiis over the years, which would explain why a potential approach has been postponed for the moment.
Thiago Motta was another name under consideration after his fine work with Bologna this season, but the suggestion is that he could be a candidate for PSG, while former Parisians coach Christophe Galtier is among the International names being linked with Napoli.
