Real Madrid will meet with Milan in the coming weeks to determine the future of on-loan midfielder Brahim Diaz. The Spanish international has spent the last three seasons with the Rossoneri in an extensive loan deal which culminates this month. The deal includes an option to sign Diaz outright for a reported €22 million, however should Milan exercise it, Real have their own buyback option set at €27 million.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the player wishes to remain in Milan after his loan spell, while Los Merengues see him as replacement for Marco Asensio, who is set to leave the Bernabéu this summer.
Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have tried to bring down the asking price to no avail, while coach Stefano Pioli has spoken of the important of the player in his starting XI, saying: “Diaz’s growth is there for all to see. He has great personality, he likes to have pressure, he is becoming an absolute level player. It is clear that I would like to coach him again.”
Gazzetta claim a meeting between the two clubs is expected next week, but suggest that ‘after 123 Rossoneri games and 18 goals, Brahim is further from Milan and closer to Spain.’
