Reports from the Italian sports press claim that Spurs winger Ivan Perisic is pushing to return to Inter this summer. The Croatian international made the move to North London last summer but has failed to secure a place in the starting XI, moreso after the departure of coach Antonio Conte.
Previous reports from Tuttosport claimed the 34-year-old was looking to find a way back to Milan after a highly disappointing debut season.
Calciomercato now report that Perisic wants a return to Inter and has spoken about it with club director Beppe Marotta , but his hefty €6m-a-year salary may make it difficult to find a road back. The report also outlines how Inter have several players all over 30 and the club policy is to not renew any of their contracts as they look to cut costs and revitalize the team.
Another factor is the emergence of Robin Gosens this season, a player who Inter rely on as an alterative to Federico Dimarco, and point to the German’s desire to remain with the Nerazzuri for now.
Perisic attended the Champions League semifinal against Milan at San Siro earlier this month and is expected in Istanbul to cheer on his former teammates in a Champions League Final against Manchester City.
