Nicolò Rovella revealed that Claudio Marchisio was his idol when growing up and explained that he knows the level needed to play for Juventus. The talented youngster spent the season on loan at Monza where he has excelled under coach Raffaele Palladino, himself a former Juve youth prospect. Speaking with DAZN, Rovella looked back at a successful season and touched on the potential for him to return to Turin this summer:
“It’s been a very positive year for me, I did not expect it. I was hoping to play and get some experience, it went beyond expectations and I am very happy. Palladino? He was important, almost decisive. Mister Stroppa called me to come here. When Palladino arrived from the start he immediately gave me confidence, gave me a lot of advice and helped me off the field as well. Having finished playing early he still remembers the dynamics.”
“Galliani first time he called me on the phone because he knows Allegri very well. Talking with coach Allegri at the beginning of the season he told me that Galliani wanted to talk to me. He complimented me and I immediately felt appreciated by a master of Italian football. It was an honour, then when you talk to him you understand the qualities of the person. He is incredible. In the early days I was living at Continassa, I was with Fagioli. I get a call from an unknown number and I had not answered. Then he texts me and says it was Galliani and if I could call him back as soon as I could. And I immediately called him back…..”
“My Idols? When I was a kid I liked Marchisio a lot. Now Modric, I like him too much. Locatelli? I trained with him this summer, for me he is really strong, he has quality, I like the way he passes the ball.”
“My suture? I don’t know, we will see this summer. I think. This also made me grow. After the championship fortunately there is the Under-21 European Championship and then we will think about next season. When I trained with Juve I understood the level there. I needed a step up to be at that level and try to play with them.”
“Fagioli? We have been friends since the national team, we talk often. I am very happy for him, now I am sorry he is injured. At the beginning he struggled a bit, then his qualities came out.”
