5 of Our Favorite Teams for Serie A Reviewed

Start

With another exciting season of Serie A approaching, fans and enthusiasts are more than just eager for the fierce competition and the breathtaking moments. We ourselves are anticipating the thrilling, unforgettable matches that await. And here are our favorites for the 2023/24 season!

1. Napoli

Widely regarded for their attacking flair and highly possession-based football, Napoli are all set to defend their championship title with vigor. The team has often relied on its skilled midfielders to control the game’s pace and rhythm, creating scoring opportunities that the opponents can’t expect.

This time around, we expect Napoli’s quick transitions from defense to attack to be even more dangerous on the break.

With a mind-boggling 90 points in the 2022-23 season that was way ahead of others (Lazio – 75, Inter Milan – 72, and AC Milan – 70), Napoli has already set the stage for a football revolution.

2. Lazio

Lazio’s playstyle often revolves around its tenacious and aggressive team, putting a strong emphasis on pressing and pinning the opponents. Much like Italian football itself, Lazio is also well-known for its defensive solidity that makes it very difficult for opponents to break through.

Though the team shines through in nearly all aspects, the excellent performance in set-piece situations (both defensively and offensively) makes them one of the biggest threats in Serie A.

Lazio’s versatile midfield is going to be a huge challenge even for teams like Inter Milan and Napoli in the 2023/24 season. These midfielders will contribute to both the attack and defense, making the team more well-rounded than many others on this list.

3. AC Milan

They might be our 3rd favorites, but they have as much chance to take home the win as the other two we discussed before. Milan is a strong team and in good form. We strongly believe that they have the right rhythm right now to make excellent team plays.

If they do it right, they can beat long-time competitors as well as other threats in the league. We checked our favorite site, the popular Canadian sports betting platform, Bodog, which provides surprisingly accurate odds, and our hypothesis was confirmed. For example, in their match against Bologna, Milan are considered the better team with odds of +105 (vs. Bologna’s +245).

This is great news and confirms our theory that the team can do well in overcoming threats and hurdles this time around.

Milan’s resurgence has been truly spectacular. It’s been a delight to watch their flair, fluidity, and excellent attacking intent. Combine that with their constant aim to win the ball back high up the pitch to quickly capitalize on the opponent’s mistakes, and this young and energetic squad with a mix of talents certainly has what it takes to win the 2023/24 season of Serie A!

We’re not very sure about the $20 million purchase of Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic, but only time will tell how much value he can add to Milan’s formidable attack. We covered the transfer a while ago.

4. Inter Milan

Internazionale has a tactically disciplined approach. The team blends solid defense and efficient attacking, which makes them a great team overall. Though the golden years of 2006-2010 are long past, Inter Milan did win the 2021 Serie A, meaning they’re not completely out of the question to win this one as well.

We expect the powerful forward line of Inter Milan to show its true ferocity this time. After all, a strong and dynamic attack that can trouble any defense is the strongest tool in the Inter Milan shed.

This season, we hope Internazionale gets their defense game back on top. The well-organized defense made them very difficult to break down the last time they won Serie A, and if that kind of play makes a comeback, then opponents are going to have a very tough time.

5. Juventus

Juventus is a perennial powerhouse. And we’re not only hinting at their amazing winning streak between 2012 and 2020—9 consecutive Serie A wins! We’re also talking about their consistent performance in more recent years.

The team plays a well-structured and disciplined brand of football that we love a lot. They have a solid defense and are very difficult to breach this year. Add to that the fact that Juventus uses set pieces more efficiently than others, and you have yourself a team with a high likelihood of taking home the win!

Juventus now has the former Marseille attacker Akradiusz Milik whom they got for $6.3 million—And we can’t wait to see the great plays he makes for his new team.

Final Verdict

The race for the championship will undoubtedly be a thrilling adventure with unexpected twists that we cannot factor in. Each team has its unique strengths and qualities that set it apart within the broader discipline of Italian football—And we claim to be no experts when it comes to predicting a correct outcome (in fact, nobody can!).

But our favorites should serve you as a guide, at the very least. To track the schedule, you can use the ESPN tracker.
